Todays Funky Art Favorite: Fertile Ground

Fertile Ground was painted shortly after returning from a trip to Costa Rica, a beautiful country rich in color, with lush vegetation and high ecological awareness. Fertile Ground attempts to convey the strength, vibrant contours, and the contagious optimism of their country and proud people.

Fertile Ground was painted with a Deschutes Obsidian Stout beer rom Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. The art of Mr. Kirkeby is displayed in numerous well regarded collections and museums, including the London Tate Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Due to a serious brain injury suffered from a fall in 2013, Mr, Kirkeby has only been able to create small etchings since that time.

Today is Earth Day-Celebrate and Help our Planet

Fertile Ground CaféToday is Earth Day, a day to celebrate life on earth and take responsibility for helping to save it from destruction due to climate change.

According to Days of the Year (www.daysoftheyear.com), there is an actual Earth Day song, which goes like this:

Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment                                                          Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love through out all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love through out all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world.
