Artist August Macke (1887-1914)

During his lifetime, Mr. Macke became a noteworthy abstract expressionist who painted multiple works of acclaim. One of his best-known works was “In the Bazaar” which sold for £3.96 million at auction in 2011.

An inveterate world traveler, Mr. Macke loved Tunisia. His “Turkisches Cafe’ in Munchen” is regarded as one of his best pieces. Most of his highly regarded paintings were created from 1910-1914.
