Funky Art Featured Today: Snack

Today we feature our funky art called Snack. Guess who was hungry when this painting was created?

People particularly like the vibrant colors and the suggestion of excess in our Snack image. This modern art piece deserves a place in your kitchen, man cave or game room where it can be surrounded by other food and beverages. Placed on its side, Snack resembles a colorful bunch of bananas.

Snack (shown above) was painted using a New Belgium Trippel Ale from New Belgium Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, Colorado. You can buy Snack by going to the Shop Our Art section of this website, clicking to either the Modern and Abstract or the Funky Art on Metal category, then clicking on the Snack image and by following the prompts through checkout. Enjoy your Snack!!

Today is International Artists Day

french clown CC web1000International Artists Day honors creative souls who leave a record for the future. Anguish and joy of the human soul is portrayed through haunting tones of a melody, violence and fury caught in a photograph, or the serene gaze of a statue staring off into eternity, according to Days of the Year (www.daysoftheyear.com).

International Artists Day was founded by Chris MacClure, a Canadian artist, who created this day to bring recognition to art and to celebrate all the ways artists bring their view of life to the world.

French Clown (shown above) came completely from the imagination. French Clown depicts a funky, cheerful and mustachioed clown holding balloons and celebrating life (“joie de vivre”) through symbolic imagery, vibrant and uplifting colors.

French Clown was painted using a very good New Belgium Rolle Bolle from New Belgium Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, Colorado. French Clown may be purchased by going to the Modern and Abstract drop down category under Shop Our Art then clicking on the French Clown image and following the prompts through checkout.

More Funny Quotes

french clown CC web1000Here are some more funny quotes I found on Brainy Quote (www.brainyquote.com):

“I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw that my bath toys were a toaster and a radio.”- Joan Rivers; “Reality continues to ruin my life.”- Bill Watterson; “When I was a boy the Dead Sea was only sick.”- George Burns; “It’s hard to lead a cavalry charge if you think you look funny on a horse.”- Adlai E. Stevenson; “Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny. Maybe that’s why I don’t have a boyfriend.”- Lucy Liu; and finally, just because I find him always intriguing, “I changed the face of comedy. I used to be funny.” from Gilbert Gottfried.

Painting Pollock Style

Saturday with Jackson jI enjoy looking at various works of art and different artistic styles. Often I am influenced to paint in different styles of art, as is apparent from the art on this website. Jackson Pollock was a well known artist who, in his short 44 year lifespan, drew lots of interest (indeed, much of it polarizing) from art critics. An abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollock is best know for his “drip paintings” but lesser known is the fact he most often painted with his canvas on the floor using non-traditional painting utensils.

One Saturday this month, I decided to experiment with different utensils, foregoing brushes. Saturday with Jackson is the result. Saturday with Jackson is the color-reversed image of my painting entitled Playtime. I used a good tasting New Belgium Rampant IPA from New Belgium Brewing Co. together with a paint scraper, whisk and measuring cup in creating my version of a Jackson Pollock style painting.

Let me know if you like Saturday with Jackson. If so, I will consider adding it (and, perhaps, Playtime) to my offerings.

Herons and Dancing Gerbils

Herons are beautiful waterbirds with cute crest feathers that resemble hair. The most famous is the Great Blue Heron. I painted an image of this heron while it was in flight using Bridgeport IPA (Bridgeport Brewing Co.) as the beer of choice. I also painted a Multi-colored Heron with Belgo, a Belgian style IPA from New Belgium Brewing Co. Not only were both beers tasty, I am proud to have added both herons to this website.

Also added to this site were the Dancing Gerbils. Gerbils are known to stomp their rear feet so I painted a gerbil family enjoying the latest dance rage, Gangnam style. Belgo was used in this beer-painting as well. I hope you enjoy these additions as well as enjoying these beers.
