Todays Favorite Funky Art: Garden of Ideas

Today’s favorite BeerColors™ funky art is Garden of Ideas (shown at left).

This colorful print can be enjoyed from multiple angles. It is a rather busy painting with many figures that, to me, represent ideas; hence the title Garden of Ideas. The figures can also be seen as cookies, donuts, or rolls if you are hungry or any number of other things (hungry or not) since the beauty of contemporary abstract art is that it allows the viewer to contemplate alternative meanings and provide their own favorite interpretation and personal viewpoint of the work.

Garden of Ideas was painted with a Trumer Pils from Trumer Brauerie in Berkeley, California. Garden of Ideas can be purchased by going to our Shop Our Art  section and the Modern and Abstract category, then clicking on the Garden of Ideas image and following the prompts through checkout! Enjoy!!

Artist Bill Scott (1956- present)

garden ideas CC web1000Artist Bill Scott is an abstract expressionist born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1956. Known for his radiant oil paintings and use of overlapping colors with linear forms then scraping or layering his paint to create a collage effect, Mr. Scott was greatly influenced by Joan Mitchell in the development of his style.

Mr. Scott attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1974-79 and later received their Distinguished Alumnus award. He has displayed work in numerous museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Delaware Art Museum and other venues. His work continues to evolve and generate a good following.

Have a Happy New Year!

garden ideas CC web1000The year 2015 has now wound down. As for BeerColors™ and WineDesigns™, 2015 has been a very good year. We unveiled our Funky Abstracts and Funky Art on Metal, revamped our website, added new limited edition prints and exhibited our art in good art festivals. Most importantly, we met many fine people.

Our artist, Ron Pomeroy, participated in a public art project that brought several fine sculptures to the City of Canby and is currently involved in planning a special art event for the fall of 2016. The year was a success mainly due to the help and support of dedicated people in the arts community-particularly advisers, Kathleen Lansing and Dolores and Jim Dittmer (www.jdapdx.com). The year was also a success due to those of you who liked and purchased our art.

We also thank you, the reader of this blog. 2015 was devoted to posting information about abstract artists through these posts, a decision that required learning about those artists and their art styles. That exposure has positively influenced current BeerColors™ and WineDesigns™ art.

Today is World Party Day

garden ideas CC web1000We are informed by Days of the Year (www.daysoftheyear.com) that today is designated as World Party Day. Aah, shucks! Guess it is required that we all pull out our party hats, blow up some balloons and have a good time today. After all, it is our civic obligation to party hardy today!

Some Thoughts on Art from Famous Artists

garden ideas CC web1000The Incredible Art Department (www.incredibleart.com) is a good resource for art related things, including art quotes. Here are a few art quotes from famous artists that I find intriguing:

Joan Miro: “I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music”; Henri Matisse: “I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me”; James Whistler: “An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision”; Georgia O’Keefe: “Still-in a way- nobody sees a flower-really- it is so small-we haven’t the time- and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time”; Marc Chagall: “Art must be an expression of love or it is nothing”; Leonardo da Vinci: “Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is not art” and from Mirka Mora: “Art is the child of imagination and gives life”.
